music is more than an education
It's a way of life.
Instead of putting a hault to all the progress your student has made over the school year, they can keep those instruments in use and never lose their chops for the fall.
Working with the Batavia Concert Band, students have the opportunity to learn from local musicians among an array of professional fields.
Our concerts are designed to be first and foremost, a good time for all. Music is more than an education— it's a way of life. Something that has the chance to stick with you for a lifetime.
We give students the chance to keep playing their instruments – All. Summer. Long. Open to young musicians throughout Genesee, Orleans, Wyoming, Monroe and Niagara counties, in all public, private and home-schools who are completing 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grades, in the year of the respective Batavia Concert Band season.
The Batavia Concert Band Board of Directors wishes to recognize and honor a student entering or enrolled into the field of music (or related major) and/or has demonstrated a commitment to performing in community bands, including the Batavia Concert Band. Preference is awarded to those students majoring in a music related field, however, all applications will be considered. $300.00 to be endowed upon submission of evidence of enrollment in a college program (transcript, letter on college letterhead, etc).
Please complete the application below. The Board of Directors and General Manager will review all applications, and the award will be present at the final concert of the season.
We recommend that students preemptively type all answers to the following long-format questions into a word processor application (i.e Microsoft Word, Apple Pages, etc.) so as not to lose your responses in case of network timeout or page refresh.
When shall we have music for the People? Music that all who will may hear, without money and without price; free to all ears, as the sparkling fountain on the Common is, to all eyes.
